Case Study | How to plan your Personal Branding Session
A Personal Branding Case Study
Professional branding photography helped this gutsy go-getter to turn her dreams into a business reality. Georgie wanted to be able to connect with her audience in a real and authentic way but she knew a website full of stock images and poorly taken phone snaps just wasn’t going to cut it.
Booking a personal branding session with me gave her the opportunity to create personalised imagery that was based on an understanding of the type of clients she wanted to attract and the way she wanted to communicate her brand. It meant she was able to launch her business with a fully furnished website and social media presence, even in the midst of a pandemic.
I figured many entrepreneurs could learn from her “just do it” attitude and the steps we took to planning her personal branding photoshoot.
The brief
Georgie works with passionate women who are looking to grow their side hustle. The key to her success is helping entrepreneurs eliminate their limiting beliefs so that they can create a life with more fulfilment and financial freedom.
She was looking for a suite of images that portrayed her unique mix of energetic passion and gentle feminine calm.
It was key that her imagery communicated her values: Passion, Freedom, Empowerment and Self-care.
She was already working with a great local web designer and had a clear plan for her logos, colour palettes and design elements. So it was important to make sure Georgie’s personal branding photos would work in harmony with those aspects.
The Process
After completing a personal branding questionnaire that helped me better understand Georgie’s goals, we worked together to storyboard her wardrobe, props and locations for the session. She selected two outdoor locations near her home and a local cafe that she often hits up for her morning coffee and inspiration session. We finished the shoot at her home.
The session itself was around 90minutes of shooting, with time for outfit changes and plenty of chat! Personally I like to make sure there’s adequate time in your session to relax into it and get comfy with the camera.
Once her session was done, Georgie sat back and worked on her social media content while I polished off her images. Around 2 weeks later Georgie had her fully edited suite of images to download and send to her website design team.
